The conferences

The conferences purpose is to provide an effective and established forum for discussion and dissemination of original and recent advances in MAV technology. The conference program will consist of technical paper presentations, workshops, keynote lectures and a static exhibition including a poster session.

Submission of papers that address novel, challenging and innovative ideas, concepts or systems, reports on real uses with concrete and quantitative results are particularly encouraged.

Call for Paper

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas as they relate to MAVs:

  • Low-Reynolds and MAV aerodynamics
  • Enhanced autonomy and artificial intelligence applyed to MAVs
  • Sense and Avoid
  • MAV swarms, formation flight
  • Flapping wings, morphing and bio-inspired MAVs
  • Vision-based sensing
  • Control theory and state estimation
  • Autonomous navigation without GPS
  • Design methodologies and optimization
  • System architecture for MAV operation
  • MAV applications and flight testing

Authors may submit two kinds of papers:

Scientific papers
Submitted articles will be subjected to a single-blind review process of the entire article. Key figures and references to pertinent publications in the existing literature are required. The maximum length of an article is 8 pages.
The scientific presentations will be 25 minutes long including questions.

Technical papers
Technical papers may be submitted as an abstract highlighting new or significant aspects of the authors' work in one of the MAV's technical field. Submitted abstracts will be subjected to a single-blind review process. The technical presentations will be 15 minutes long + 5 minutes for discussions and questions.

Final manuscripts
Final manuscripts are due at IMAV 2013 by 1st of  September 2013 for both technical and scientific papers.

A 'no paper, no podium' rule is in effect for all accepted papers. In addition, it is the responsibility of those authors whose papers or presentations are accepted to ensure that a representative attends the conference to present the paper.

 

Deadline

 

  • Technical papers (abstract or extended abstract, 2 pages maximum) submission 1st of June (new deadline), 2013 .
  • Scientific papers (draft paper, 4 pages minimum) submission 1st of June (new deadline), 2013.
  • Notification of Acceptance by 10th of July, 2013.
  • Final manuscripts are due at IMAV 2013 by 1st of September, 2013.
    • Full technical papers must be 6 to 10 pages long.
    • Full scientific papers must be 8 to 10 pages long.
    • Poster max size A1 (full papers are not mandatory but can be included to the proceedings)

 

 

Awards

Best paper award
On the basis of the reviews of the program committee members, a number of papers will be nominated for the best paper award. After the presentation of the last of the nominated papers, a special committee will select the best paper of the IMAV 2013.

International Journal of Micro Air Vehicles
The authors of the articles nominated for the best paper award will have the opportunity to participate in an expedited review process in the International Journal on Micro Air Vehicles.

 

Social Event

The IMAV2013 Social Event will be held at AIRBUS:

  • visit of the A380 assembly line
  • buffet
  • presentation by Yves Gourinat (Professor at ISAE)
